I haven't written properly in years.

To remedy this, I have decided to spend at least an hour a week to do so. Hopefully it will be  understandable and genuine to myself, when I eventually stumble back to see who I was, and to anyone who may come across this.

I sorely regret ignoring my need for expression for all these years. I don't know why I tend to ignore this aspect of myself in favor of distractions. If I at least kept up this journal in the last 5 years I would have had reminders of myself and maybe a fragment of an answer. I exist but I tend to forget how to live. I tend to forget a lot of things.

I am lucky to be who I am. I should not squander that. I will not.

Remember that.

Fun things to do #091
Need to end a relationship with a boyfriend/girlfriend? Let someone know they're fired? Tell your child they're adopted?

Use a post-it note!

Extra plus if you use headings like:

"While you were out..."

"A friendly reminder..."

or my personal favorite "Don't forget!"

maybe i'll have answers down the line
Figuring I should post more stuff here for myself as I grow older and look back upon my youth. So there have been some things I have been pondering...

1. How much PSI or pressure does a human fart produce?

2. Has fast food changed living habits of wild birds, such as pigeons and sparrows? (Specifically in areas where humans have suffered ie; heart disease, obesity, cholesterol, blood pressure)

3. If there is a deity and someone devout to their religion were to find out without a doubt that said deity did not exist what kind of consequences would entail that knowledge? That being said are most people good because of the reward systems based on religion?

so much to learn and so little time.

Sony Store
I need to use my camera more for today I visited the mecca for excessive gadget candy the sony store in Tokyo. They were mainly hawking 2 items...

1. The Rolly http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer/rolly/products/index.html. It's a stereo/robot combo with a no-screen UI and editable motions. And at $450 it's a baller status toy.

2. The new Cybershot cameras. I don't know if they were released in the US yet but this is the first time for me to see the new "technology" they built into their cameras. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJz5pvW6NVw . There is a mode where the camera will lock onto people's faces and take a photo as soon as the person/s smile. cute...

I kind of expected more out of the sony building, it was a few floors and pretty empty. Nothing really spectacular although if I were baller the rolly would have definitely been bought.

The mac store right down the street was stupidly packed and rightly so. It's 5 floors, incl. one floor that was basically a theatre room with how to lectures. The floors are accessible by stairs or automatic elevators! Though a bit freaky that there were no buttons. It was a whole helluva lot nicer than the sony building.

300 students. that's the tentative number of students we are having just in the month of july.

plus side is july is the busiest month so the numbers are a bit smaller every other month.

i'm going to die.

on hiring
maybe someone can answer this question for me...

is it illegal for me to have 2 people interview for the same position at the same time? it seems to me that it'll kill two birds with one stone. i can get a sense of what a person is like under pressure.

and plus it might end up with 2 girls fighting like a beer commercial. mmmmm

So I conducted an interview today. First time folks! Basic rundown I looked like a jackhole who didn't know what the hell he was doing...

But the applicant seems more than qualified so hopefully my inexperience did not scare them off.

a bit of a pity party but this drastic weather changing is wreaking havoc on me. i felt like throwing up all day. hurrah for global environment breakdown!

like a pokemon master!
i only say that i'm a pokemon master because i captured a friend!

one of the things i'm nervous about when i move to Japan is making friends. i mean where the fuck am i supposed to meet people? so luckily one of the people i'm working with from Japan was down to chill today so now i have a friend when i go to Japan.

and i admit i'm a bit under the influence as i type this but today was a stressful day that ended well. did some major town hopping.

We ended up starting off in Marukai in covina, hopped to pasadena to eat at thaitalian (thanks kristen!) this time around i got the green curry linguini which was suprisingly good, hopped to ameoba where i splurged 75$ on a box set of the palm directors label, hopped to little tokyo, then back to covina to grab some dinner at 313 sushi fusion.

the stress came in at little tokyo when one of my employees called me to let me know that another one was pulling some bullshit. so i have to do a nice 1 on 1 on monday. gah.

all i can do for now is relax and enjoy the dvd's i bought. i'm so excited to watch em!

what i think i really need right now is sensory deprivation...

i'm tired of seeing what the fuck is going on with anna nicole smith's deaying corpse or how britney is going all sinead o'connor...

i'm tired of hearing about how i'll never have enough and that buying some overpriced machine or popping some new medicine that will take away the fact that i'm a normal human being with flaws...

i'm tired of tasting processed shit that passes for food or eat vegetables that come from questionable origins...

i'm tired of feeling this resentment towards the human race because i've been experiencing nothing but idiocy everyday...

i just need to get away.

Huzzah!
Once I get a break from work I'll upload more photos. Been back for a week now and it still pains me to be away. I know it's just a week but I can't help myself. Everything seems so right with her and it seems as though timing smiles upon us as well.

We were comming back from an onsen when I asked her if she had ever seen a shooting star, to which she replied "Many in WI but not in Japan." I said "Yeah I've seen a few in CA," to which we paused our walking for a moment to look at the sky. At that moment she exclaimed "Look look do you see it?" as a fading line of bright light streaked across the sky.

I can't make up moments like these.

Uploaded photos!
Greetings all! Hope everyone`s Xmas was good.

Christmas EveCollapse )

Christmas DayCollapse )

Yesterday was also another lazy day. She lives right by a cost-co so we went there for a pizza lunch and then I hung out at a cafe as she got her haircut afterwards. That night we talked some more and I`m actually going to meet her parents on New Years. I`m going to be the first guy that she has ever introduced to her parents so I`m pretty nervous but excited. I have photos uploaded on my Flickr with descriptions so if any of you are interested that`s where they`ll be. Have a safe New Years!

Day 2
Ugh so feeling the jet lag today. Woke up a few times in the middle of the night and then @ 730 this morning. Then promptly passed out after having breakfast and woke up @ 1:30. I just can`t wiat for the lag to pass because I`m hurting right now. It`s also doing a number on my brain, I can`t seem to form coherent thoughts and sit dazed out. I`m just waiting for energy to return to me.

Going to head out of the city after the shower. Going to hop on some trains and go to Yokohama to buy a xmas present and hopeuflly knock some soulvniers off the list and buy a usb cable. After that it`s all the matter of figuring out how to upload pictures on a mac.

On tonight`s menu is Tonkatsu. I figure I`d write some simple instructions on how to make it as well.

Pork Cutlet (not too lean)
Garlic Salt
Dashi (little brown granules of fish stock)
Ajimoto (MSG in a bottle hell yeah!)
1 egg
Flour
Panko (specific type of bread crumbs)

1. Take the pork cutlets and massage the dashi, garlic salt, and ajimoto into the meat. Do this for both sides.

2. While doing this make sure to have a bowl of hot oil heating on the stove.

3. Lightly pad flour on the seasoned cutlet.

4. In a seperate bowl break the egg open into it mix the egg up then dip the cutlet into the bowl giving it a light glaze of egg.

5. Put some panko on another plate and then start breading the cutlet generously.

6. Now drop the cutlet into the boiling oil and let it cook till golden brown.

7. Once golden brown carefully remove the cooked cutlet onto a plate with a paper towel making sure to flip the cutlet over or dab the paper towel on the cutlet to remove oil.

8. Serve on a bed of sliced cabbage with rice and enjoy!

Really quick really easy really tasty dish. Alright I`m off to take a shower then venture into different towns!

Day 1
Greetings! So last night was my first night in Japan. I arrived at the airport around 5 o`clock and was picked up by Kaori. Had dinner at the airport and talked for hours. Got to her apartment at 10ish and pretty much knocked out.

The apartment is pretty nice, it`s bright and cozy. What`s wierd is I have been in this area before last year and didn`t even know it. It`s also a cozy little town with alot of shops conviniently located. Passed by a hair salon from the train station last night so I stopped by this morning to get my haircut and found that my grasp of the Japanese language in situations such as a getting a haircut was greatly inadequete. Ended up telling the lady "Omakaseshimasu" meaning I`ll leave it up to you. And she did a great job and it was only 20$ bucks.

Stopped by the supermarket to get some groceries and the oden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oden) is cooking as I type. Yes I cook amazing I know. It`s about time I checked on how the food is progressing. Took pictures but forgot the usb so I`ll try and find one soon then upload the photos.
